The Architactile series (2015-16) looks into the narratives around architecture, or the potential for these to develop. They are empty spaces and in a way a blank slate, yet are anything but blank. Human desire, personal associations and alternative architectural approaches are free to find their way within spatial configurations that have been built up through a collage of printed matter. Soft or organic textures found in old magazines and books were used to create a feeling of space and architecture that is more tactile. Through the process of 'building', a new reality is imagined on a 2-dimensional surface, a hyper-realistic architecture that inspires touch and the imagination. Compositionally, the initial part of the series was inspired by engravings from a 1604 publication on classical perspectives by Vredeman de Vries.
