The series Urban Cavities started with 3 large works made as artist-in-residence in Budapest in 2018, focusing on the empty lots of Pest. They were spaces of nothing that still spoke of something. I continued with the new technique (building with painted papers) and subject matter after returning to my studio: openings in the urban fabric, breathing space or spaces temporaily forgotten yet not devoid of significance. With the lockdowns of 2020 I started to move away from urbanism as subject towards a kind of freedom from urbanism.
The painted papers used are maps or book pages.
